![]() There's the fuel outage plot-point that drives most of the (outrageous) decisions and stunts in the film. This implies that the film completely relies on extracting tension due to their current situation alone (that of manoeuvring a plane to safety without a pilot). The protagonists, played by Allison Williams and Alexander Dreymon, are total whatevers, without fleshed-out stories (or even a solid verbal reason) to back them up. Keith David as the pilot who dies early on is the only character that showed some semblance of being likeable. In the case of Horizon Line, we get neither. But the advantage there was the underlying mystery and the solid lead performances. Josh Campbell and Matthew Stuecken previously wrote 10 Cloverfield Lane, a sci-fi thriller (with undertones of horror) that I enjoyed. The only interesting thing about it is that one-line thread - stuck on a plane with the pilot dead. Horizon Line feels like a one-line plot stretched into a 90-minute film with lead characters that have negligible chemistry between them and not worth caring much for. 2/10 don't even bother I was so happy when it ended. Sadly it was disappointing and it wasn't stupid enough to be funny to me. I went into this movie blind, locally theaters were about to close again and we just wanted to go one last time for a while. I mean Sara even looks back at the ocean like she's reflecting on the events, which doesn't say anything because we've been on a plane for 90% of the movie! How does that even make senses?! I can rant on about so many more things but I'll leave it here. But literally nothing comes of it, not even a shark coming close when they get on the boat. they hint at sharks being underwater because the boyfriend is bleeding. There's barely any sense of dread they won't make it, and oh. A random boat, in the middle of nowhere just SHOWS UP because why?! Who knows the movie needed to end I guess! Terrible. Now the finale, think you can't be let down enough? Talk about the most lackluster ending to a disaster/survival movie EVER. The soundtrack has some free royalty music tendencies but overall not the worst thing. One of the worst shots though is when the camera just has the cgi plane centered in the middle and it just looks awful. With that all exterior shots of the plane are CGI and you can notice it. So it rarely felt like they were actually on a plane. So the background was always filled with bloom and the plane never had that realistic turbulence. My main problem was that most of the movie played out on a obvious static plane set with a bunch of green screen. Just so many moments where you think ''why/how?!" and not in a good way. Now what happens when you put two boring actors with no chemistry in a plane together for 1 hour? I guess you just start doing crazy stuff like climbing on the wing and smashing random whisky bottles. They make it such a drawn out and emotional moment (though she can't cry so nothing hits) but ALSO we know almost nothing of their relationship, and suddenly we're supposed to feel this emotional bond? But also when she finally got communication on the radio she mentioned the pilot being dead as one of the last things?! You'd think that would weigh heavier than saying ''I'm the pilot in a happy tone!". And this goes into another scene where she has to push him off the plane to make the plane lighter. But sadly he didn't stick around for long. He brought a bit of levity to the annoyingly serious tone of the movie. Now the one short highlight of this movie was the pilot and actual good actor. just because she doesn't ''like'' to say it?!! I don't physically facepalm during many movies but this made me, the scene was so stupid. ![]() From the start of the movie they make the main theme pretty much about her not wanting to say goodbye.not because she had some crazy trauma or anything no. ![]() But the writing, oh the writing for the female lead could not be more obnoxious. The lead actress is so dull and is terrible at showing much if any emotion. I expect this kind of acting out of a 80s cliche slasher flick, not something trying to be serious (like really serious). But the first segment feels and is incredibly rushed. The editing does clean up, I mean it's impossible for it not too with this plot. First off something you will instantly notice is the editing, apparently this movie doesn't really care about showing characters moving or traveling, because in the first ten minutes you've been all over the island and introduced to characters we get to know almost nothing about and contribute zero to the story. ![]()

The experiences of when your life flashes before you need attending to Many people need psychological support after these near-death experiences. This explains why they’re so vivid, real, and intense. Therefore, the hippocampus ‘dumps’ a large number of memories in the prefrontal cortex. However, in situations of extreme danger, it stops working. This neurotransmitter inhibits multiple functions of the central nervous system. Consequently, the prefrontal cortex (key for cognition or decision making) and the hippocampus (responsible for memory) suffer an alteration in the correct release of GABA. It’s facing death and its level of activity is so intense, chaotic, and excessive, that cortical disinhibition occurs. Imagine a brain at a moment of great threat. Cortical disinhibition between the prefrontal cortex and the hippocampus Indeed, they believe that the perception of time and its organization are nothing more than products of our own consciousness. As far-fetched as this may seem, many neurologists accept this idea as valid. Past and present occupy the same plane and overlap. It dissolves, almost like Dalí’s watches. It seems that, in those moments, time ceases to exist in the mind. People who claimed that “my life flashed before my eyes” experienced the effect of a situation of extreme stress at the brain level. In 2017, a group of Israeli scientists from the Hadassah Hebrew University in Jerusalem published a study in which they reviewed existing cases on the subject. Let’s take a look at some of the likely responses. Those moments when people find themselves in that twilight moment between life and death. However, what generates countless questions are the mental flashbacks. This is perfectly understandable after having survived a traumatic event. They usually become more ethical, humane, and simple. They might also make profound changes such as leaving their profession and looking for another or completely changing their priorities. For instance, there are those who stop being afraid of death and become aware of the beauty of life. Indeed, there are certain aspects of the personality that tend to change as a result of these experiences. Furthermore, those who experience these kinds of events are always changed for life. For example, suffering an accident, being in an operating room or some other kind of threatening situation can cause the brain to enter this type of trancelike state. ![]() The kinds of experiences in which people see their life flash before them can be extremely diverse. We like products that make cooking easier-not ones that force you to rethink your recipes due to an odd burner layout. Sure, the PGS920SEFSS looks great, and the appliance has a number of convenient features, but its so-so oven and poorly-designed rangetop keeps this GE from earning our approval. Sales won't help you, either, as the lowest price we found was just north of $2,700. The GE PGS920SEFSS is a competent range, but we can't imagine paying anywhere near its $2,899 MSRP-especially when products like the Electrolux EI30GS55JS offer similar performance for considerably less. On the plus side, however, air circulation was top notch-as indicated by perfectly-baked cakes. That means this oven has hot and cold spots and some temperature inconsistencies. When we made cookies, they were overdone on the bottoms and unevenly cooked across the baking sheet. The oven itself raced ahead with an eight-minute preheat, but things went downhill from there as the oven struggled with doneness and evenness in our tests of baking cookies and cakes. The broiler took a tedious ten minutes to reach 598☏, which didn't win it any points. The PGS920SEFSS's gas oven didn't perform poorly, but it didn't wow us, either. Oven, Broiler, & Convection It'll do the job, for the most part. If you've got to reduce a sauce and you've already got pasta boiling, you'll have to ask one of the slower burners to do the job, and plan your recipe accordingly. Unfortunately, that means you'll likely use that superb tri-ring burner for boiling water. With the exception of the front left tri-ring burner, which managed to boil six cups of water in six minutes, water boiling speeds were unremarkable. However, the rangetop displayed many of the shortcomings that are inherent when you're cooking with gas, including a narrow range of temperatures-from 118✯ on the simmer burner to 417✯ on the tri-ring, to be precise. The front left tri-ring burner offers a versatile mix of simmer and searing temperatures, while the center burner, with an included griddle pan, is great for cooking items like fish or pancakes.įor the most part, the five burners performed well in our tests. The PGS920SEF features a total of five burners: a front left tri-ring burner, two standard burners, a simmer burner, and a center burner. Rangetop Linguini with clams? You're out of luck. However, it does add a bit of time to a preheat. The roller rack easily slides out of the oven, which can be undeniably useful when you're struggling under the weight of a steaming pan of lasagna. The oven also features a roller rack in addition to two standard racks. The rangetop is covered by a continuous cast iron grate, which makes it a breeze to move heavy pots from burner to burner. Unfortunately, on our test unit those dials tended to stick, making more minute adjustments a bit difficult. Unless your kitchen belongs in a museum, this range's transitional design should fit your decor as neatly as it fits your counter space.Ĭontrols are smartly designed, from the well-thought-out oven control panel to the dishwasher-safe burner dials. The sleek, stainless steel PGS920SEFSS is a particularly good-looking specimen. Design & Usability Good looks and cool features. Our baking tests weren't stellar, either, and that makes this range a tough sell. For instance, the PGS920SEFSS's tri-ring burner was good for a fast boil, but the rest of the rangetop didn't impress. However, good looks and cool features aren't enough to justify a price tag just shy of three grand. ![]() ![]() ![]() The scheduled arrival time in Athens was 10:45. Summers were spent fishing and riding horses while the pecan trees planted west of the house grew large. When the last private owner purchased the farm in 1956 they named it Collinwood. The old house was disguised to look much newer. The owners in the 1940s added cedar shingles over the cypress boards, as well as second story dormers. The land and the house were sold to a Highland Park family, who in turn sold it to their neighbors in the 1940s as a rural summer home. During the late 1930s, farms west of Plano changed hands frequently due to the depression. The old homestead along the creek, referred to as the White Rock house in Lizzie’s diaries, was passed down to Clinton and Nannie Kate Haggard’s daughter Annabel Aldridge and then to granddaughter Emma Kendrick. He married Nancy Katherine (Nannie Kate) Lunsford, and they expanded and called the old house home until around 1884. Elizabeth (Lizzie) Carpenter was Nannie Kate’s half sister and wrote about their pioneering experiences moving from Kentucky to the frontier North Texas in diaries kept for several decades.
